Summer Learning Journey day 1 week 1

Maui is a mythical demigod that has helped the Maori culture for many things he has lassoed the sun mad us coconuts and got us fire from down below.

Maui has a big stone hock that makes him able to shapeshift into many animals.

Maui is also the person or demigod that pulled out islands for us to live on.


The story of the sun and Maui.

once upon a time there was a village where the sun would go around very fast so someone in the village called Maui had a plan he grabbed a few people from the village and made them some ropes with hooks on them they soon found the spot where the sun will come out so they hid behinde some rocks to protect them selfs from the sun as soon as the sun came out the all threw their hooks while maui jumped up high and SMACK the sun with his ancient hook and soon then the gaveup and soon started to slow down for ever. The End

Types of Hooks to Hook the Reader

I am learning to write different types of hooks to hook our readers.

Firstly, we wrote the first sentence in the book for the example and then we put the title of the book that page and put it on the next Collom, after that, we had to say why did they mean when they said that line in the sentence.

I learned that it might look hard but its actually really easy.

It was easy to write the example for the first one but then the other 3 was hard because I needed some books to write for it.

The DLO I used were the journals that had our title and examples in it that we had to write about in the four Collums.

I used the book to write all of my examples in the Collums.

Compare Sheet Venn Diagram

I am learning to compare and contrast sheet

First, me and Johann did separate circles Johann did six and I did the embarrassment expert
then sally told us what to do on my life and we both did our what was hard in our life

I learned to connect sentences together so if six and my life are the same we write it in the orange part but if six and embarrassment expert are the same I put it in the purple circle

It was easy to do embarrassment expert because  there was so much information in the book
but it was hard to do my life cause I didn't know what to write so I didn't write much

My DLO was the journals we had so we could do research for the compare and Venn diagram

the resource was the books so first we skim read them then we put any information in the circles but we also had to write when it happened and what happened to there bodies and their feelings so it took some time

I am learning to get better at writing

It was first hard because my teacher said that I have to use pictures that represent what I said but I manage to do it.

 it was very easy to find what to write because they are on the white board.

I learned that we have to be kind each other even if we hate each other.

The steps I did was first I did my writing then I do the rest of the pictures.

It was hard finding more information to write my letter but I manage to get the information.

 it was very easy just write it all cause im a very fast typer.

I learned writing letters to people aren´t easy on computers.

First, I did some research about the character and scenes he fought in like Russia. I also learned that captain price had fought mostly in every war. it was hard to describe the Russians, but I still manage to describe the Russians.

Hello, family right now I'm at base gathering resources and supplies for the big war in Russia.

I hope I can see you again. But don't worry I got roach and soap on my side ghost is here for backup too. I won't be back for a long I'm kind of angry because we are needing backup. But we have to defend the choppers first because they are shooting RPGs at our backup helicopters. It's also really cold in Russia so we have to attack the right moment. My Kite

In room 11 we decided to make some kites for Matariki because it represents stars  and at Matariki they fly kite for my kite i used a Japanese style for it so i put  big Japanese temple in the middle of the kite with and added some patterns around it, it looks very cool when i arranged the colours for the right spot.

i am learning about the geoboard

The thing that was hard for me was to find out what I          should do but soon I then found out.

The easy part was to draw my figure I knew my figure would be a knight so I drew a knight.

I learned you can make different stuff with the geoboard.

I learned about the geoboard because I
 have never used it before but it turns out to be fun.

WALT: We were learning to ask questions to help us understand and our reading. First, we read some books then we ask some questions about the book and the story.

 If you ask about hard questions you can learn more things on what you can learn.

It was easy to understand about if you ask questions you will learn more things, but hard to make sure the questions is something you don't know.

This is the book that helped me in question and helped me on how to use different questions.

We learned about forces. First, we learned about four forces thrust, lift, drag and gravity and how planes fly next we learned about physics like how come if I push a cardboard box that has nothing in it easy but if I push it with stuff in the box it's hard but now we learnt why it's hard to push the box with stuff in it so Iq hoped you like my explanation about forces

Soft Creamy Butter By luke

                 Soft Creamy Butter in only minutes

Hi my name is Luke and
in room 10 we made some home made butter.
We also made some bread to put the butter on. We ate it, it was yum. After we had the butter on the bread, miss asked us question's about the butter. Like"who of you will make this butter for your self", and I said "I would make it at home". It was very yum. I even thought it was gonna taste yuck but it didn't. It tasted like melted butter on the bread and the bread was nice too. It felt like we were having breakfast, we also took some photos.

We were very lucky to eat this butter and bread at school because most of the time you would probably be doing work in class and you probably wont be doing any fun things but who knows, you might be or maybe not, but most of all the butter we had was Delicious.

About Sharks

Hi my name is luke and I am going to tell you, want I know about sharks

There are more than 465 known species of sharks living in our oceans today. Sharks are an apex predator at or near the top of their marine food chains, and they regulate the populations of species below them. Research has shown that massive depletion of sharks has cascading effects throughout the ocean’s ecosystems.

Sharks belong to a family of fish that have skeletons made of cartilage, a tissue more flexible and lighter than bone. They breathe through a series of five to seven gill slits located on either side of their bodies. All sharks have multiple rows of teeth, and while they lose teeth on a regular basis, new teeth continue to grow in and replace those they lose.

Shark ‘skin’ is made up of a series of scales that act as an outer skeleton for easy movement and for saving energy in the water. The upper side of a shark is generally dark to blend in with the water from above and their undersides are white or lighter colored to blend in with the lighter surface of the sea from below. This helps to camouflage them from predators and prey.

Most sharks are especially active in the evening and night when they hunt. Some sharks migrate over great distances to feed and breed. This can take them over entire ocean basins. While some shark species are solitary, others display social behavior at various levels. Hammerhead sharks, for instance, school during the mating season around seamounts and islands.

Some shark species, like the great white shark, attack, and surprise their prey, usually seals and sea lions, from below. Species that dwell on the ocean floor have developed the ability to bottom-feed. Others attack schooling fish in a feeding frenzy, while large sharks like the whale and basking sharks filter feed by swimming through the ocean with their mouths open wide, filtering large quantities of plankton and krill.
